摘要： Bitter gourd (Momordica charantia) is a popular vegetable in China. Because of its high yield and good quality, hybrid bitter gourd cultivars ave been widely grown in South China in recent years. In April of 1999, severe leaf blight on bitter gourd caused by Alternaria alternata was observed in the suburbs of Nanning, Guangxi, China. This was the first record of the occurrence of bitter gourd leaf blight caused by A. alternata in the Mainland China. The authors report the identification, characterization of the pathogen and susceptibility response of several hybrid bitter gourd cultivars to the infection by A. alternata.
