摘要: Guangxi is located in the southern part of sub- tropics, and is suitable to grow various sub-tropical crops, especially sugarcane. Sugarcane is distributed in central and southern sub-tropical region in Guangxi, it is located under the latitude of 24°. In the past few years, sugarcane production had been developed greatly. In 2003, the total area of growing sugarcane had reached to 540,000 hectares. Due to poor inputs and extensive cultivation and management, the yield of sugarcane was only 45 to 60 tons/ha, and quality was low. The nutritional status of tested soils revealed that it was poor in nitrogen, phosphate, potassium, magnesium and sulphur. Sugarcane yields and sucrose content were increased significantly by application of potassium, magnesium and sulphur. The increasing use of potassium, magnesium and sulphur fertilizer increased fiber content in sugarcane. Sugarcane is a graminaceous perennial plant with biomass production ranging from 80 -140 tons per hectare. The life cycle of sugarcane passes through four distinct physiological phases viz. germination, tillering, grand growth and maturity phase. The tillering and extension growth phase are quick during which biomass production is high coupled with more absorption of nutrients, especially, the amount of potassium absorbed by sugarcane was more than other elemental nutrition. In each development period of sugarcane, the potassium content in sugarcane plant is higher than other nutrient elements except nitrogen. Generally, sugarcane yield is 45-60 ton per hectare and quantity of potassium t (K_2O) absorbed by sugarcane ranges from 109.1 - 315.28 kg per hectare. According to the statistical results of 82 field experiments, the relation between sugarcane yield and potassium amount absorbed was found to have a positive correlation. The correlation coefficient r = 0.979~(**). The function of the sugarcane yield(y) with sugarcane absorbing potassium amount(x) was y=31687.1+246.Ox. Sugarcane which is usually grown on medium light soils (loam soils) the critical soil K value was 52.0 mg kg~(-1) of available K. The critical soil K value of sandy soil and clay soil were 46.0 mg kg~(-1) and 60.0 mg kg~(-1) of available K, respectively. The K supply classes established based on the statistical analysis were: as loam soil, < 52.0 mg kg~(-1) , 52.0-110 mg kg~(-1) and >110 mg kg~(-1), corresponding to low, medium and high K supply, respectively. The soil available potassium was lower than 110 mg/kg in the most region of sugarcane area ( Xie et al., 2000 ).At application rate of potassium between 150- 450 kg/ha, sugarcane yield was increased by 4.75%-23.78%. Application of phosphorus fertilizer also increased the yield of sugarcane, whereas application of K fertilizer increased quality of sugarcane markedly.
